At Home: Mr. B Turns One

There are so many things that I love about At Home sessions. The real life, the important things, the details of your unique story.  For those of you with more logical and practical approaches to life, another one of the amazing things about an At Home session is it doesn’t matter what the weather is like! How many times have you had to reschedule your family photos because of rain or snow or scalding hot Kansas heat?! Last weekend it was freezing and snow-raining {technical term}, but we didn’t have to think twice about whether or not to proceed with Mr. B’s one year session.  Their home was perfectly warm and cozy. AND they didn’t have to put a toddler in a car and drive anywhere, lol!

Alright, I’ll get off my soap box about how wonderful At Home documentary sessions are.

It’s been such a pleasure getting to know this family. They’re kind and laid back and value these real life moments. It was like music to my ears when Mom said “my vision is super casual.”  That’s speaking my language!!  No need for perfectly manicured outfits cause baby’s going to barf on your first outfit choice anyway {not that that happened or anything}, no need for extravagant props or kitschy themes. Just you and the things that make up your story right now.

Sorry, I got back on my box, didn’t I?

It’s just this image right here. This is their life. I can see this moment playing out in their evenings. Daddy playing on the guitar, little man dancing and mommy soaking it all in.

I know, as a mom, these are the little things I never want to forget.  The excitement on little man’s face as daddy plays.  His eagerness to strum the strings just like daddy. The way his little booty shakes when he dances.

Reading stories, pushing his wagon, snuggling his Bun-Bun, eating blocks and, of course, walking all over the house.  That is what this little boy is made of.
