Our Spring Tree Tradition

Well, hi there strangers! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve written. I’m sorry about that and I promise to be better about it.

I’ve mentioned many times that we live across the street from a 1600 acre park. It’s amazing. We’ve created so many memories there already in our 3.5 years in this house and I’m so excited for many more. Our first spring here I drove past the park and noticed these absolutely beautiful rows of blooming trees.

Picture perfect, post card style road lined with white flowering trees. I knew immediately that these trees had to become part of our story.

I dressed the kids up in their Easter wear and took them over there to capture some spring pictures of them. And, boom, our spring tree tradition was born.

This weekend I noticed that they were starting to bud.  This is the hardest part.  The timing. When will they be in perfect bloom and will the weather be in perfect harmony with bloom time? We all remember last year when we had SNOW in April. This year, though, all the heavens aligned. The flowers burst open and the sun was shining and it was a perfect 75 degrees. We had the area to ourselves this year, thank goodness. As you can imagine, this beauty definitely attracts a crowd. We were in and out in 15 minutes, with one time-out for a certain 4 y/o to pee in a field.

Yep, that happened. Yes, I caught it on camera. I’ll spare you that one, though.

Traditionally, this moment is all about the kids. Hubs and I did jump in one picture this year, though. Nothing fancy. We were both in our comfies, but we were there, too.

So, our spring tree tradition is 4 years strong and I’m excited to see how the kids, and the trees, grow over the next many years.
