Family adventures have become a weekly staple for us. We’re exploring all the magical parts of our city. I love documenting these moments. To me, this is the real.

This is the important type of Kansas City Family Photography.

A moment. A memory my kids can look back at and remember all the details of this day.

My big guy, who is a cautious and anxious kiddo, got so excited to see a water snake. He went chasing after it and didn’t stop looking for more the whole trip. My princess always seemed to take the wrong path; her own path, of course. She follows her own beat and this time that kept leading her to wet shoes and muddy legs. And there was that moment when I spotted a beautiful downed tree trunk that looked like a perfect spot to climb. Daddy searched and searched for the perfect route to get us to it. It lead us to some beautiful scenes, but also lots of mud.  We carried rocks to make our own stepping-stones across the squishy path, but the baby sunk in. Daddy came to the rescue and lifted him out of the mud, but his shoes stayed behind. “My shoes got stuck!” And he giggled about that for the rest of the trip. BUT, we made it to that tree trunk and it was worth it.

A one point, we came across a long bridge. I don’t know what it is about bridges that gets my kids so excited. Personally, bridges make me a little nervous. All they wanted to do was run back and forth across it as fast as they could. I learned a cool new trick for documenting moments like this so you’ll have to look for it below. I think it might be a new addiction and I can’t stop creating them! I’d love to include something similar in my family sessions.
